“Block 17: What Command Didn’t Report”
This testimony was collected by unaffiliated recorders in the months following the Block 17 pacification. It has not been authenticated by Corps Command and is not part of the official record. It is presented here without alteration.
“They call it a pacification. We call it the night the sky came down. I don’t know who told the Rangers to come to Block 17, or why. I only know they didn’t come for us.”
The account describes a sequence of events in the hours before the Rangers’ arrival that does not appear anywhere in Command’s after-action summary — and a question, repeated by multiple witnesses independently, that the official record does not answer: who gave the order, and why Block 17.
No further corroborating testimony has surfaced. The Corps has not responded to requests for comment.
